Blue
The colour “blue” is my favourite
colour and it is based on this fact that I am furious over the fact that in our
society today, this attractive colour is used to describe a lot of “unpleasant
things” that make it highly detestable.
Take for instance; the
name “blue” has a lot of meaning which includes; a state of being sad or
depressed. A blue murder is used to describe a terrible din or commotion. A
person who gives birth to a blue baby is said to have given to a baby suffering
from a congenital heart disease that results in some or all of the deoxygenated
blood being pumped around the body instead of passing through the lungs, giving
the skin and lips a bluish tinge.
Blue in a plural
form “blues” is used to describe a feeling of sadness or depression. To be
in a state of (blue –funk) is referred to a state of great terror or
cowardice. A personwatching a “blue film” is said to be watching a films that
involves pornographic materials. The world blue in plural form “blues” is also
used to describe a football team I hate i.e. Chelsea.
With reference to
this, the persistent misuse of an attractive colour like “blue”
is in no way justified.
I am of the belief that an
attractive colour like blue should not be used for “unpleasant things” it is a
lovely colour. I urge you all to stop using ‘blue’ to describe unpleasant
things.
